The history of Vetter Stone Amphitheater
Built in 2010, Vetter Stone Amphitheater is one of the newer music venues in Minnesota. The distinctive natural limestone design of the amphitheater seating is one of its unique characteristics. The stone was donated by the Vetter Stone company and reflects the area’s geological heritage.
The area has a long history of stone quarrying, dating back to the 19th century. Due to the large amount of high-quality limestone deposits in the area, stone quarrying became a major industry in Mankato. The stone has been used in the construction of many local buildings, which you will be able to see during your visit. The use of limestone in the amphitheater’s design provides a poignant reminder of the city’s past.
The amphitheater has been recognized as a top outdoor stage for concertgoers in or near the Twin Cities. It also ranked fourth in a top 10 outdoor venue listing by Star Tribune.
